PM-Kisan is a government scheme launched by the Indian government in February 2019. It is an initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to small and marginal farmers in the country. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive a direct cash transfer of Rs. 6000 annually in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each.
To be eligible for the PM-Kisan scheme, a farmer must have a cultivable landholding of up to 2 hectares and should be a resident of India. The scheme is applicable to all farmers, irrespective of their age or gender.
The scheme is implemented by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The primary objective of the scheme is to augment the income of small and marginal farmers, and to ensure a dignified life for them.
Farmers can apply for the PM-Kisan scheme through the official website or by visiting the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or the authorized banks. The government has also set up a toll-free number, 18001155266, for any queries related to the scheme.
